No, we do not offer air boat tours. We use an uncovered outboard motorboat. We use a four-stroke motor because it is the least invasive option for the swamp since it’s quieter than any other outboards. Air boats push out a lot of wind from the fans and knock down bird nests. Also, they are very loud and scare away potential wildlife. More importantly, the loud noise can affect hearing loss in wildlife. Earmuffs are typically used while riding in an air boat. Our goal is to provide a relaxing swamp tour experience while allowing our guests to hear the surrounding wildlife and tour guide.

Since we do not feed alligators, we cannot guarantee that you will see an alligator. We see only wild alligators in their natural habitat. American alligators are more timid and less aggressive than people think. They are naturally afraid of people. It is rare for a human to be attacked by an alligator. Attacks are more likely when an alligator is being fed or if it is around people often. This makes them used to people and they become less afraid of humans. These types of alligators are more likely to become a nuisance and possibly dangerous and end up being killed. However, wild alligators tend to stray away from the sight of humans unless you are too close to their nest or their babies. Even in this case, the mother alligator often makes a hissing noise to warn you not to get any closer. We strive to provide the most genuine and authentic experience possible. Feeding wildlife consistently encourages animals to become reliant on that food source rather than feeding naturally. Besides, there are over 100 species of fish and shellfish that they can snack on in the Atchafalaya Basin!

We do not lure or feed the wildlife so we cannot guarantee that we will see a specific type of wildlife. The Atchafalaya is home to many creatures which makes it more likely to see a variety of animals! On a typical day we will see a variety of birds and alligators. On our tours we have also seen otters, bevers, snakes, fishing spiders, racoons, coyotes, and deer. It’s always a surprise which makes it that much more fun!

Dress comfortable! Please check the weather before arriving to our tour to be sure to dress appropriate. Keep in mind during cool days, the temperatures will be ~10 degrees cooler on the water and even cooler while we are driving fast! During the summer, it is very hot and humid in Louisiana. A hat and light clothing are recommended!
-
We always recommend bringing bug spray and sunscreen! Believe it or not, we typically do not have a big issue with mosquitoes on our tour. The bayous we enter are not stagnant which keeps the mosquitoes mostly at bay, but in Louisiana there is no area that is completely mosquito free. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it! Water is a must during the summer. Snacks and drinks are welcome. Please be sure to dress appropriately for weather conditions and keep in mind that we will feel 10 degrees cooler on the water during cold months.
-
We typically only cancel a tour if there is evidence of thunder, lighting, or serious storm warnings. Ponchos are carried in the boat in case of rain. If we need to cancel or reschedule your tour, you will be notified immediately and you will receive a full refund. Please be sure to bring appropriate rain gear as the ponchos will not fully protect you from getting wet.

Unfortunately, there are no restrooms on the boat. We offer a unique swamp tour experience by using small boats in order to swiftly drive through the cypress forests. However, the local meeting point we use is a gas station and they allow our guests to use their restrooms. (We are not affiliated with the business or cleanliness of the restrooms.)

Yes! Friendly dogs are allowed if you purchase a private tour. Dogs are also welcome on our 2- hour guided tour as long as all guests are comfortable with a dog in the boat.

Swimming is allowed only on our private tour or if your group are the only people on the boat.
